JACK Quartet

I’ve been a member of JACK Quartet since 2016, when I uprooted my life in Chicago to join this band. Now I call these guys some of my closest friends and we travel the world together in search of challenges to our instrumental technique, ensemble ability and musicianship. We work with a vast array of living composers through presenting organizations, schools, and our own JACK Studio program.

We perform in halls with repertoire from the Ars Subtilior to Schoenberg to Lachenmann. We have a vast recorded catalog including music written for us by Catherine Lamb, the complete Quartets/Quintets of Elliot Carter and John Zorn (coming soon), and have commissions in progress with John Luther Adams, Natacha Diels, Liza Lim, Tyshawn Sorey, and so many more.

You can read all about our many concerts, recordings, and opportunities to study with us at places like the Banff Centre for the Arts, Mannes School of music, and our in-house JACK Studio program on the JACK website.

Takt Trio

2023 marked the centenary of György Ligeti’s birth. His music remains a constant source of fascination for me ever since I discovered it in my teenage years, and his Horn Trio reveals more depth and opens new horizons of perception each time I approach it.

To mark this date and honor the potential Ligeti showed in this under-appreciated chamber music combination, I combining forces with two musicians I admire greatly: Conor Hanick (piano) and David Byrd-Marrow (horn).

We are teaming up to commission two titanic composers for concerts beginning in 2023, Marcos Balter and Hilda Paredes. Both composers are masterful artists of small ensemble composition, and the Paredes commission is supported by the Koussevitsky Music Foundation. Concerts in 2024 include the Library of Congress and Denver Friends of Chamber Music.
