The debut concert of Takt Trio at the Ensemble Music Society in Indianapolis. Tickets here. With Conor Hanick, piano and David Byrd-Marrow, horn.
Takt Trio takes the pillars of the repertoire for this magical instrumentation as its starting point and commissions new work to expand its repertoire. This debut concert is a part of a festival celebrating the centenary of György Ligeti, the magus of imagination and memory. We commissioned composer Hilda Paredes with an award from the Koussevitsky Foundation. Her new work Koan is full of energy, humor, and a personal brand of nostalgia. After a maze of overtones and labyrinth of driving rhythm the piece arrives on a series of playful quotations and huge, noisy climax. We hope to see you there for its premiere
